¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I bought some 2nd hand Crucial DDR2 laptop memory recently, and I've tried it in 3 different laptops now and I can safely say that it does not work.

Does anyone know if I can RMA it as it have a lifetime warranty? Will I need proof of purchase at all in order to do this?

Thanks.

Sometime you do, sometimes you don't. With lifetime warranty, I can't imagine why they would need it. Usually proof of purchase is only required so they can see when the warranty on the item actually began. Without it, they usually take warranty as the manufacturer date. You'd have to ask them. :)

The lifetime warranty only applies to the original purchaser.

Crucial warrants to the original end customer of its products specified below that its products are free from defects in material and workmanship affecting form, fit, and function except with respect to refurbished products, video cards, or non-Crucial-branded products or software. Any claim alleging that any product fails to conform to the foregoing warranty may be made only by the customer who purchased such product and only while such customer owns such product. Crucial, at its option, will repair, replace, or provide a credit or refund of either the original purchase price or fair market value, whichever is lower, of any product that is determined by Crucial to be defective.

I have the same query about some Corsair XMS3 I got from the MM. Unfortunately the original owner doesn't have the receipt or any proof of purchase, but it does have a lifetime warranty.

Anyone have any experience of trying to RMA regardless?

As far as Corsair are concerned,Shh, don't tell anyone but yeah I've done it before now. Never asked for any kind of proof of purchase, but make sure you don't fill in the purchase date at a time when the product couldn't possibly have been on sale. And obviously MM isnt a recognised place from where you may have bought it.

*The above is all theoretical and hasnt been done, honest :)*

I have just RMA'd my XMS3's and they have to go back to the Netherlands, so I will soon know how long the procedure takes.
