looking for some advice on a set up. currently i game on a 1080p TV through my amd 290x. The HDMI lead is run into a receiver which has 2 outputs and one goes to my TV and one goes to a projector (so i can watch movies from my pc)

I am getting a new 4K TV and wanted to know whether i could run my GPU directly to my TV (as i would need to bypass my receiver as its not 4K compatible - i am aware that i am only going to get 30fps at 4K with amd)

However is it also possible to run a HDMi lead from pc as well to the receiver so i can watch movies through my projector. My Motherboard has a HDMI output as well as the one of my GPU.

the alternative would be to simply switch HDMI leads i assume everytime i want to use the projector

Or buy an HDMI splitter, so that it mirrors the output to both devices.

The problem you'll have, though, is the mixture of 4k and 1080p devices. Your PC will interpret the EDID data from one of these (usually - depends on how the splitter works). It's usually the first output which transmits the EDID data back, so as long as this is the 4k tv, then it should work, but you'll need to remember to manually reduce the resolution to 1080p when connected to your projector.

Make sure to get a 4k compatible splitter.
