Hey guys

I'm contemplating getting a 5850 for my rig. My main concerns is my PSU and whether it will fit in my case as i hear it is rather large! Also is my motherboard up for the challenge and you think it will be a worthwhile upgrade?

Thanks a lot

Here is my setup.

With 43 amps on the 12v rail I would say you can easily power one 5850, I think it will be a tight fit in the antec 300 but having checked its interior out I am 100% certain it will fit. Your CPU at stock will hold the 5850 back somewhat, if you could OC it to or above 3Ghz that would help performance a lot.

Thanks for the replies guys. In answer to one of the replies, yeah my CPU is overclocked currently at 3.2gz so that should be fine right and not hold back the card?

I'm suprised it will fit a 5870 as ive heard lots of people have problems fitting them and mine is a relatively cheap case. That's good to hear.

I suppose my next question now is, is the 5870 worth the extra 100? I game at 1680x1050 on a 22 inch Samsung monitor, I would like to play Crysis but since i upgraded from XP to Windows 7 my PC cant really play it. I would also be tempted by the DX11 games coming out and wouldn't mind playing less PC intensive games on my new 37 inch Samsung 1080p TV.

Thanks guys

Radeon 5850 will be just fine for your rig. You should be able to play games at your TV without any problems but since the 22" monitor will be for a common use, I wouldn't spend 100 quid extra for the performance difference.

I cannot guarantee that you will be playing Crysis on your TV without ANY fps drops. But yeah, besides that it would satisfy every gamer :)
