I have a Shuttle SS59GV2, which apparently supports 775 Socket P4 & Celeron D processors @ either 533 or 800fsb.

I currently have a 775 P4 3Ghz HT, just wondering for the future (its just a media pc but can i run the basic E4300 as i noticed its the same 775 socket but runs at 800FSB as well. unlike the rest which are 1066fsb.

Also can i run P4 Dual core processors?

Could you explain why? - I appreciate your response but the motherboard in my shuttle supports 775 800FSB so presumably if a processor meets those requirements I should be able to use it? - Unless it's not supported in the bios?

Core duo and core duo 2 have the same 775 socket but different voltage and signalling needs that need to be impmented in hardware for full Intel support. The cpu id and new features also need bios support. Also until recently C2D processores were on the 1066 MHZ FSB.

The shuttle CPU compatibility list is not up to date, the latest bios screen has notes on intel CPU compatibility suggesting many more recent CPU's should work but still none are C2D. Faster 900 series dual cores should work provided enough stable powers available via the board.
