ive just made a stupid decision of buying ocz gold 3 1600mhz ddr3 12800 ram, although only 6 quid, but still, i want to use it on my gigabyte z68x ud3p which is of course a z68. i know its triple channel ram, but i was going to either sell a stick, and buy 2 other sticks, or just get another stick to make it 4x1gb sticks. thanks

As long as it's DDR3 it all works. It being labelled triple channel or whatever doesn't mean it will run in that mode, it's just letting you know all the sticks in the kit are from the same manufacturing batch. What really affects what mode the RAM runs in is the memory controller. So sticking 3 sticks on a SB platform will run in single channel. Remove/add one and it will run in dual channel.

Why not get a 2x2gb/2x4gb kit instead? 8gb for under £40 - bargain: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-094-KS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517

It's 1.65V RAM, as mentioned in your other thread, so you would need to try and run it with less voltage.

Recommended memory voltage is 1.50v, so make sure to run your memory at 1.50v, higher than 1.60v could limit lifespan of the CPU

Technically Intel recommend no higher than 1.575V.

You'd have to set the voltage in the BIOS.

Whether or not the RAM will run with lower voltage you'll only find out by trying.

Plenty of the RAM currently on sale at OcUK is rated for higher voltages but runs at ~1.5V.

You'll just have to try it and see.
