To any MCSEs out there, is it safe for me to delete $NtUninstallKB files from the C:\WINDOWS directory on a Windows XP system?

I assume that these files are there to allow you to "backout" Windows updates, but they do take up an awful lot of space.

As an alternative, can I remove them to some other directory and reinstate them if necessary?

Would I need to make any changes to the registry or anything else.

Many thanks for any feedback.

Well on my Windows 2000 system I've always deleted them with no problems at all. As you said, only there in case you have problems and need to uninstall the patch.

As for the registry something like ccleaner will do the trick.
