Thinking about upgrading my study computer and have one spare.

Anyone know if there is still a market for the following?

iMac G5 2.0
20" Version
1gb Ram
250gb Hard Drive (need the data on this, may purchase new one and stick it in!)

Couple of small problems however - firstly, it hasnt had its logic board replaced. This means that every so often (about once every 1-2 months) it will overheat and freeze. Closing down and leaving to cool for about 10 minutes and its all hunky dory.

Problem 2 - Superdrive is locked to Region 1 dvds..

Any ideas if anyone would even be interested in this?

Its in good condition etc.

Wasn't the G5 covered by some sort of replacement program?

You'll probably get a silly amount for it because that's the way Mac's are, never understood that. Is it the iSight model?

Nope, its the pre-isight model.

Its not covered by the replacement program, as its literally just outside the 3 year warranty period that covered that!

I wouldn't buy it, and the logic board is only going to get worse. It's not worth a lot at all, but that's not to say people wouldn't pay a lot for it.

I don't think I would go as far as say "Its not worth a lot at all". It hasnt got worse, its a minor issue that has been like it from the start (It took a while for Apple to start the replacement program).

Lol it's faulty hardware, obviously the value of it depends on how you word the advert, but it's hardly a solid purchase for someone to make. I'd only buy it as a mess-around box because the knowledge that it will hard crash without warning is too much of a risk for me to use it for anything serious.

On the other hand if you know the value then why are you asking? Selling it as anything other than faulty is lieing in my opinion.

Was going to say as a known issue you may find that apple are willing to deal with it outside the warranty period but you seem to have found that out already!
