Hi,
Im having a bit of internet trouble at my new Uni apartment, i can only get a wireless connection but i dont have a wireless card on my PC but i can pickup the signal and connection to it on my laptop.

is there a way that i can pass/share the internet connection from my laptop to my PC using a eithernet cable? It is currently not possible for me to directly connect my PC to the modem/router using an eithernet cable.

-If yes : how difficult would it be for someone who knows very little about setting up networks and servers etc etc.

Any info would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,
Magnumwolf

Yes.

Bridge the connections.

If you can tell me what OS your laptop has, I'll tell you how (if you don't know).

Right, so on the laptop, open up the "Network & Sharing Center" from Control Panel. Click on "Manage Network Connections" down the left hand side, and then in the window that opens, highlight your wireless and wired connections (hold down CTRL and click both connections). Now, right-click one of the selected connections and click "Bridge Connections".

Connect your PC to your laptop with an Ethernet cable (should be fine with any cable, most network cards these days are auto MDI/MDX), Job done :)

Hmm something is working right, my PC has connected to the gateway but its not picking up the internet connection. As soon as i set it up it asked me to select a network type on my PC Home, work place etc etc

I selected home and it ... did something, the network icon at the bottom right is showing as connected but also displays a label (No Internet access)

Update :

Ok it is working, but only some of the time, i think my wireless signal could be causing this problem
