As Tefal said, the hose is always the winner with cats! To be honest, I think that it's more worrying that you counted the precise number of piles!

Oh, and:

= Problem solved.

Seriously though, spray the cat with a hose. Cat repellant and all of the other tricks don't work. If the cat gets sprayed with the hose enough it'll learn not to come back.

have you actually seen a cat do this?
it doesn't sound like a cat at all.

Exactly. Never seen a cat poo on a garden lawn before, ours always bury it, had cats for years, never once have I seen them poo and leave it outside. It's always in a flower bed or loose soil then buried.

Are you sure it's not rabbits or something else?

i thought it was legal to shoot a cat but shooting a dog as its classed as domestic animal was illegal

Why shoot it? just buy repellant.. and like other people say, if it was my cat. Your face would be meeting my foot.

Just think that there could be a kid the age of your daughter who's pet you're threatening to kill.

Wasn't that driving? You must stop for a dog on the road but the law doesn't care about cats?

Anyway, shooting it is probably a bit extreme. 22 piles in the same garden seems a bit odd too, even for a small herd.

Are you sure it's not that your neighbours just really dislike you and save the muck from the litter tray? :p

Not read the thread fully, but cats are protected by law and harming, killing, kidnapping and suchlike are illegal. The best you can do and stay on the right side of the law is deter the cat in a way that won't harm it.

No it's not, and it's common to mistake one for the other.

The rule of thumb is that if it's buried or an attempt to bury it has been made, it's cat, not fox. If it's on a lawn, 99% it's fox.

You probably DO have some cat poo if a cat's been sniffing about, but it'll be buried somewhere rather than out in the open.

Still, never let facts get in the way of a good rant, that's what I always say!

Thats a load of rubbish Mr B, cats do **** on lawns and it isn't a rare occurrence.

As a cat owner, I'd much rather have my cat come home having been soaked with a hose than shot with a gun. Also speak to the owners, see if they'll try and stop it from pooing outdoors, or maybe make it do it's business in their garden as ours does (when it's not doing it directly on the carpet).

get a spot light with motion detection. If a cat goes into your garden that goes off and spooks it. Works at my house for the garden, also quite a good detterant for thiefs.

Shooting or harming the cat in anyway is obviously not the way to go and you shouldn't really even be considering it. You have to remember that yes by our standards it is your land but not in the cats world. As far as it is concerned it has every right to be there. As for the cats owners, well the only way you could 100% prevent a cat from doing its business outiside is to not let it out at all.

I personally would try the garden centre for the cat repellent devices and google any home made repellents. The hose pipe and super soaker trick sounds good too. There is no shortage of deterrents and one or a combination is sure to work.
