Can I skip ATX 3.0-3.1 PSU for Arrowlake build to save money?

Details to help decide: I'll never have a graphics card higher than mid range in the future (4070 super for this era), will be getting an I7 Arrowlake on release and build is meant to last a decade. The older pre ATX 3.0 Seasonic PSUs are 40%+ off for me right now.

Will the new spec potentially increase longevity/lower odds of graphics card dying randomly from tighter specs or compatibility of pci-e 5.1 with the new stuff? Any forseeable issues that might arise if I try to upgrade my graphics card to newest midrange in 5+ years?

You will be fine. I have a Seasonic GX 1000 and I’ve ran a 4090 off it using the official Seasonic adapter cable and it was perfect.

No, but for a 4070 Super you will have to use the adapter the card provides, or buy a Seasonic one. 4070 non-Super would not have this problem (except FE).

I run a 4090 on an old phanteks PSU some seasonic rebrand.
it doesn't know what a 12+4pin cable is never mind a 12V-2x6 (the replacement for 12+4)

I juse use the adapter that came with my GPU.

No they just mean your cable won't melt if you don't plug it in all the way, and you have one cable instead of 2-3 running to the GPU
