Hi all,

As you can see in my sig this is my setup and my mobo is

uk.msi.com/product/mb/P67A-GD65.html

Gigabyte GTX 480 SE i have seen a few super over clocked for sale quite cheap can i sli on this board and gpu ?

I know the power consumption will be high but i dont really care if i can get another card for £80 ish seems a lot of horsepower for the cash ?

Thought ?

Yes you can SLI with that board. It could get vram limited though with the likes of BF4. Your case is going to get extremely warm inside as well and the top card will get toasty.

well i am playing BF4 on Ultra setting fine not sure of the frame rate as not measuring but silky smooth. so im kinda wondering if i should do it or not. The case already gets rather warm but always fancies a SLI Setup. What sort of % Increase in performance should i expect ?

You will be fine, I have just moved from 480GTX sli to HD7990 (only because i got it for £381 ;-) , I know that it is a big jump but it doesn't feel it as the 480 sli setup still played BF3 and BF4 on ultra without hickup.

I was blown away when I first went sli with these cards, i had heard reports of microstutter, power and heat issues but never suffered any of them in the two years of running them, and that was on a XFX750W psu.

So for £80 give it a go!

Hmmmmm sounds promising. I just ran Fraps and getting between 28 -55 fps in Battlefield 4 on Ultra, When dropping to 28 its only for a second then back up to an average of high 30's kinda thinking it might future proof me for a another year for £80 then upgrade to what ever is out in 18 months time (CPU the lot)

What card would you suggest ? Say i could get £80 for mine and top it upto £200 would i get somthing as pokey as two 480's ? Has to be nvidia btw as i also use fsx now and then.

Two 480's in sli seem to be a bit of a beast even by todays standards

Get a 7950

Over clocked it should be as fast if not faster then SLI 480's

SLI GTX480's = GTX 590

Overclocked a 7950 is not that far behind a GTX590 at all.... And it some games with poor SLI scaling it'll actually be faster!

And you get double the VRAM you have on your 480 too.

See how a 7970 Ghz Edition does compares to a GTX 590..... http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/768?vs=975

Overclocked the 7970 would have it as the 7970 and 7950's for that matter have a good 20%+ overclocking head room

They certainly got it right with 480 when they released it, I cant wait to get another 480 to join my existing one - its gonna be a tight in my mATX case!
