I have a tp-link powerline adapter which i use with my popcorn hour a300.

i want to also use the same powerline adapter with my sky HD box.

Can i buy an adapter to make the one RJ45 cable split in to 2 ?

would both have access to the network at same time ?

thanks

( i know i could buy another powerline adapter, want to keep costs down if poss)

you would need a small hub to split the cable, an unmanaged one could be picked up pretty cheap, i got a second hand 5 port one for about a fiver

As said a cheap switch/hub would do you good, also if you have an older router lying around you could use that as a switch.

Is there any slowdown when using a switch ?

My TP powerline adapters are 200Mbps.

I do have a Buffalo WLI-TX4-G54HP that i used with an old bluray player.

would this work ?

thanks

Depends on the switch. If you use a 10/100 switch it'll connect at 100Mb, not 200Mb.
If it's a gigabits switch, then it'll connect at 1000Mb (but will be limited to the 200Mb of the powerlines although a 200Mb might be a cunning way of saying 100Mb full duplex)

I dont see why it shouldnt work, as i have an Asus 4 port router acting as a switch.

Connect it this way :-

Homeplug-->to port 1 on switch-->port 3 to TV and port 4 to popcorn hour

Give it a try and see how the speeds are for you when streaming.

As said above it will limit the speeds to 100Mb.

If you are sending a lot of traffic, use a Switch not a hub, hubs are old technolgy and should only be used really these days when carrying out packet sniffing unless you want lots of collisions and bandwidth being taken by all ports, rather than per port bandwidth
