Can i switch to AHCI

I want to switch to AHCI mode on my DS3 but i didnt install the drivers during OS setup and i havent got the HDD plugged into the JMicron controller.
Can i just plug it into the JMicron and install the drivers from the gigabyte website which i know are raid but do they carry the AHCI drivers aswell???

IIRC you won't be able to boot into Windows after changing to AHCI. You need to do it before installing Windows.

would it be o.k to create a partition and install windows again but use the AHCI drivers.
