Can I take a Core 2 Duo?

I've recently found a buyer for my old machine (Dell XPS Gen3) and whilst cleaning all the dust out of it, I noticed that the current chip (P4 3.2 640) & board are a similar design to the new Core 2 setup I have (pinless cpu with the pins on the motherboard)

The board has LGA775 written on it, so the million dollar question is... will this board take a core 2 Duo cpu?

usually dell motherboards are custom made for dell, with strict limitations, I think you might be better of finding what type of board is inside your machine, tracking it down to the manufacturer.

Also the BIOS's are usually custom made for dell as well.

Bung the service tag into the dell site and see what the latest BIOS revision says
