Can I test a A10 6800 CPU in my ASrock 970 PRO Motherboard , I know the graphics will not work etc.

I need to test a AMD A10 6800 series CPU , But I have a AM3 motherboard , I know it will not test the graphics on the A10 is working , But I can at least test the chip works to some degree if it is possible.

Does anyone know If I can put the A10 into the AM3 Motherboard ?

My motherboard is a ASROCK 970 Pro R2.0 ?
