Can I transfer game data from 4S to iPad 2?

Hi all, I was wondering if I could transfer my game save data between the devices? I just got my iPad 2 today but I don't want to start some games from scratch if I can avoid it.

My iPhone 4S is currently setup with iCloud with the games I play, and it's also set up to backup to iCloud rather than my PC according to iTunes. However, in the Apps tab, I don't have my apps synced. All the games I've downloaded direct from the App Store via WiFi.

My iPad 2 is also setup with iCloud, and set to backup to iCloud on iTunes.

I've tried to setup my iPad 2 as a new device, log in iCloud and redownload the game via the App Store but no game save data there. If I set it up to restore from my iPhone 4S backup, my apps aren't copied over to the iPad 2! Is there something I'm doing wrong, or is it simply just not possible?

I don't think this is possible unless the games in question specifically use iCloud to save your game data in which case it should be synced across devices.
 
Certain games are modified to run on the iPad e.g. Angry Birds on the iPhone is Angry Birds HD on the iPad, so I don't think the games would be the same.

I assume the game data would be compatible but you'd probably have to jailbreak it in order to gain access to the root file system, then copy the game data folder over to your iPad
 
i used an app called Angry birds backup or something which backs up my save file to the iphone, i then ssh'd into the ipad and transferred the file, downloaded the app on the ipad and "restored" my game file, open angry birds and there is all my stuff :D

this example is just for angry birds, i dont know how you'd do other stuff :(

Strange, when a recent iOS 5 update went wrong, i ended up resetting an iPad to default and assumed all the game data etc would be lost as all the apps were wiped.

When I went to the App Store, hit the Updates tab and clicked on the Purchased button all the apps came back with their saves and settings intact when I used the little cloud icon to download them rather than getting them from the store again.
 
I've gone to the 'Purchased' tab in the Apple Store and downloaded Bike Baron for example by tapping on the cloud icon.

But nope, no game data synced over from my iPhone 4S. Guess I'll have to deal with it! And another disappointment as I've decided to try out the iTunes Match service only to find out they halted subscriptions or something!
