Can i upgrade the 13" Macbook HDD to a 7,200 rpm?

Just wondering.

I want to buy a Macbook soon in January. Should be my first Apple computer so i am not the most knowledgable. :)

i believe so - as long as it's 2.5" sata. but i guess it will probably reduce battery life and cause it to run hotter. i'm looking to upgrade my 80gb to 160-200gb but am probably going to stick to a 5200rpm.

Sounds tricky. So any 2.5" Sata should work? Anyone here added a 7,200 rpm dirve?

Not related but should i be worrying about the lack of a graphics card if Leopard ends up using it.

They'd be crazy to introduce stuff in Leopard that the huge number of MacBooks and iMacs with GMA950 could not support.

Yeah probably. I was thinking along the lines of Vista Aero however as i am reading there are rumours of anew UI for Leopard?

The 7200 isnt going to make that much of a difference.. not IMO

I'd switch if it were me.. check out the videos on youtube.com.

The upgrade process is sooooo easy you will laugh! :)

Yeah there's the new core3d stuff or whatever it's called. The MacBook's graphics chip is quite capable though, it can handle Aero fine.

I wouldn't bother with the faster HDD unless you're going to be using it as a desktop replacement in which case you might as well get an iMac.

I play world of warcraft on mine fine, it'll have no problems with any new UI...

Core Animation :)

Ah cool. I was worried intel graphics are still practically. I play Wow a lot so thats good news :p

7,200 rpm is purely for performance. I want a fast laptop but in a small size :)

absolutely not true!
my 7200 is as warm as my previous 5200 and the battery lasts good 20min longer.
i read some tests before changing it and all of them confirmed this impression. the fujitsu/toshiba apple drives are not as efficient as a hitachi 7k100.
