Can I upgrade or do I need to buy new?

Hi, my PC is starting to crash/hang and is generally quite slow these days. I've performed the usual tasks of wiping adware/spyware, defragging and even wiping the hard drives with a fresh copy of Windows 7. It's about 4 years old now and I think it may need an upgrade. I obtained the specs by running 'CMD' and typing 'dxdiag' - Specs are below...

AMD dual core processor 4450e (2 CPUs),~2.3Ghz
GeForce 7050M-M Motherboard
GeForce 8500GT Graphics
2048MB Ram
IDE 160GB Hard disk

I'm not interested in playing games, I use my PC for web design work and it's really sluggish when using a few programs at once such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver etc.

Is my system too old to upgrade? Can anyone suggest the best way forward with a budget of about £200?

Thanks

wow.. an amd dual core.. retro ;)

the problem with your current parts is that if you wanted a significant boost in performance youd have to change a lot. I would change the processor, meaning you would have to change the motherboard.. changing the motherboard would mean you would have to buy DDR3 ram. And im not sure if newer mother boards have IDE Hard drives.

maybe someone else would recommend different but the way i see it is you wont be able to upgrade one part without changing the rest of your components

sorry to say that £200 wouldn't cut it, you're going to have to start from scratch(new cpu, motherboard, ram, psu, hard disk, and case) only things you can reuse are the os, monitor and peripherals(unless you want to change them).

I'm not an expert but you may get away with using the onboard graphics if using the z68/h67 motherboard, hoever have read that certain programs make use of the features on a nvidia graphics card.
