Can I upgrade to a C2D from a P4?

Hello,
Recently I've been getting into the more 'Hardcore' gaming side of things, and finding most of my available time on online games, and as such I'm seeing the underperformance of my P4 3.4Ghz.

So, I think it may be wise to upgrade to a C2D.

I am unsure as to what my motherboard is, and what it allows etc. Basically my question is - If I buy a C2D, will it work with my motherboard currently?

I've been looking at ocUK's prices and they seem fairly cheap for the good reviews I've heard. Well, here's my CPUZ text report so you wizzkids can see if I'll be able to use a C2D with my current setup.

I will also be getting 2GB ram shortly, so disregard the 1GB ram and think 2GB :P. If a C2D won't work with my current hardware, can you please tell me which piece of hardware(s) I will need to upgrade, and I'll try to do some research.

Thanks for all help so far :)

Okay, so I need to get a new C2D compatible motherboard.

Would that require an additional PSU / Fan upgrade because of the higher speeds associated with C2D?

Well my PSU is running fine with my 8400GS (I think).

As somebody mentioned earlier about a Pentium DualCore.

Are pentium dualcores good for the gaming aspect of PC's? And if I got a pentium dualcore, would I be able to use it with my current mobo?

Ah so I'm guessing OCUK don't sell them, how come?

Is their any recognised shop I could buy it from which delivers to the UK?

Eh thanks guys, I think I'll pass for now then until I have a bit more cash..

Keep going Cob, only 28 more posts until the 5k Mark :)
