I know a while ago, nvidia put a stop to it, but i dont know if things are different now. Basically I only want an nvidia card for PhysX and for 3D in games. Is it possible for me to use an nvidia card just for this, while using a powerful ATI card for all the processing of the game? What would be the best combination of cards for best results? Thanks! :)

What do you mean you ONLY want it to do the 3D in games that's the whole point of getting a video card.

You can use it for PhysX alongside an ATI card but you have use a work around which I'm sure can be found on Google (it's been around for a while), it's only a software lock out so it's not complicated. All Nvidia have done is if the Geforce drivers detect a non Nvidia card running as the primary display it will stop the Geforce card from processing Physx instructions, it's kind of pathetic and small minded but there go.

When I say 3D i mean stereoscopic 3D with the glasses :P.

Of course forgive my patronising tone as my head is still stuck in the 90's and even today I still refer to video cards as 3D accelerators.

That might be hard to pull off, the only way I can see that working is with MSI Lucid Hybrid technology which allows too run an ATI and an Nvidia card in some kind of Crossfire meets SLI mashup. I doubt it will work so the easiest thing would be to get 2 GTX 460's in SLI and have done with it.

I would imagine to run 3d only Nvidia cards would work. It is quite closely tied in to the game engine itself. However, nice as 3d is, you need a monster setup to get anything like playable FPS as viewable fps is cut in half. Still, if you have the money for a couple of GTX480s, why not =P
