Can I use a Sky router as a WAP?

I have cancelled my sky broadband as I have virgin. My virgin router upstairs is too far from the front room for wireless, but it is plugged into the wall via home plug.

Could I plug the sky router into another home plug downstairs and use it as a WAP?

You should be able to. It'll need some manual configuration, but nothing too complicated. If you Google 'router as access point' you'll find plenty of guides. It has been covered on this forum quite a few times as well.

Set suitable IP/subnet, turn off DHCP, connect by LAN port.
