I'm starting to look at the tablet market, but i've made the mistake of thinking they are laptops without screens...

My old lappy is used as a DVD player and holiday photo storage/RAW editing..

I've just looked at the nexus 7 on a website and it doesn't have the storage or USB slot to run my USB powered mini hdd.

Am i better scrapping the tablet idea and going lappy again?

:D:D:D

yeah get a laptop tbh you wont be able to edit RAW files as well as on a laptop..

I could live without the editing (possibly!)

But it's the size i'd like to shrink, when backpacking the lappy has to stay at home :(

32GB CF cards are smaller & cheaper than my Nexus 7 & TF300......

BUT I do use RAWdroid / Stickmount to view the shots when I'm away from home :D

Sounds like you want a cheapy 7" tablet for when your backpacking, etc. rather than replacing the laptop entirely.

Have a Look at these two...Samsung Galaxy TAB2 10.1 with USB & SD Connection kit.
or ASUS Transformer Pad Prime TF201. Not sure which one to go for myself as like you I do photography and hate carrying my heavy laptop around. RAW files are the big issue though.
Good Luck.
