Can I use another companies brackets?

Not the most interesting thread title or, indeed, thread.

What I want to know is can I use my akasa evo 120 cpu cooler (with its brackets and bits for 939 or am3 or 775) and use the brackets that zalman and scythe sell to modify their coolers to 1156 on mine?

I can't see why not. Can you?

Might not work out of the box, but since you can make brackets out of bits of scrap metal the idea is sound.

As long as it locates properly on the heatsink then yes. Some companies have odd ways of applying the pressure on the heatsink to give even results. If you already have them, then its worth a try. If not, buy proper.
