Hey guys,

I have a Creative X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro,Brilliant sound card..although when i use my desktop mic i cant seem to get rid of Hissing,If i lower the levels you can barely hear me (but hissing stops)..and the creative panel doesn't give you the option of "Boost" levels.

Now the built in realtec on my motherboard, the mic audio is fine and i can fine tune the mic with both the sound level and boost level with no hissing. (i know this from using the integrated before)

so this leads to the question,Am i able to use my dedicated sound card for the headphone audio..and use my integrated solely for the mic only or will they conflict and cause issues?

appreciate the replies!

You can do that no problem. I do this sometimes for games. I'll have the game audio playing on my loudspeakers and use my headset for voice chat.

Yeh i used to do that.
Have mobo sound for games and usb headset for voice comms.

Only stupid thing windows still cant do is output to 2 audio devices at the same time.

XP used to be able to do it.

I think the modern variant is using VAC (virtual audio cable) and then having VAC configured to output to both.

You'd need to use VAC if you want to output the same audio stream to onboard audio and a sound card. However, if you are using two streams (example: game and music), or one input (microphone from onboard audio) and one output (game audio from sound card), then Vista onwards can do that fine.

I am doing exactly as the OP is wanting to do with a Xonar D2 and onboard Realtek without any problems.

The reason i had to do this was due to similar issues. My Xonar would emit a buzzing sound randomly on Teamspeak etc and i have literally tried everything to solve it.
