Can I use DI-624 as a wireless adaptor?

Right, bit of a weird one this.

I want to share my broadband with the other half's mum. She's borrowing a laptop off me, and would like to have a look about the net, see if it's worth it to her to get broadband.

Only problem is distance, and, as she's not sure yet if she wants to commit to an 18month contract, it would be easier to give her access to my WLAN than subjecting her to dialup.

So, i was wondering if I could use my spare Wireless router (with a 12dBi directional antenna on the RP-SMA) to link to my AP (Netgear DG834G, hey, it was free), linking it to her laptop via ethernet.

The Wireless Router is a D-link DI-624, and we have LoS between us. If I can it'll save a lot of hassle of me finding a PCMCIA card with RP-SMA, not to mention cost.

Any help appreciated,

AFAIK you can't make the DI-624 work as a wireless client.

She doesn't have to be stuck in an 18 month contract though - only a handful of crappy ISPs insist on longer than 12 months, and most only want a month's notice...

I have a DI-624 infront of me and looking through the web admin i see no way you could use the wireless in that way :( sorry bud

Ah well, pretty much what i thought. Had a good look through myself, but wondered if there was a modded/updated firmware that would automagically bridge eth0 to WLAN...

Ah well, the D-link GWL-650 will have to get modified... (It's gonna be ugly, but it'll work... i can *just* pick up my AP from her place, but not associate with it due to range problems)

*looks forward to voiding a warranty and soldering*:(

cheers anyway for the effort.

well, the GWL-650 got modded, and she is now pootling about over the net... the wonders a 12dBi antenna and a little soldering can do... shame about the warranty though:(
