Can I use Google Doc's PDF viewer offline?

OK, I've tried Acrobat, I've tried FoxIt, I've tried a couple of other free ones, and I've concluded that when you're viewing a big, image-heavy PDF, Google Docs is just the fastest! I can pan through a document and it draws the pages immediately, whereas the others stutter and lag and max out my CPU.

So, my question is, can I configure Google Docs to become my default reader for PDF documents? So that everytime I double-click on one it opens my browser and opens it through Google Docs?

(I know this won't really be "offline" since obviously my browser would need to launch Google Docs through Google's servers, what I really meant was opening them in one step directly from off my hard disk rather than having to open Google Docs and upload the PDF there first.)
