As above really...

When i play games or watch a dvd - the second monitor goes blank - can't i have it on showing a web page or my emails. Seems an awful waste ;-(

It's really odd that it does this for you, this is exactly what I do, and I don't seem to have to "do anything" to make it do it.

I am also on Windows 7 64bit too.

What video player are you using to play your videos/DVDs?

In games, I find that most do blank out the second monitor when in "Fullscreen" mode. However, look for an option for "borderless window" mode. It will look the same as fullscreen, but you should see your desktop on the second screen and alt-tabbing out of game should be faster.

I use two screens and have found that fullscreen mode on one monitor doesn't effect what's displayed on the other (maybe it's game dependent), sounds like a setup problem or a quirk with the player.

Hmm I can do it fine... Displaying emails etc is easy, Direct3D doesn't work usually if you're running fullscreen on 1st display.

However you can happily run something like iPlayer on 2nd screen and Direct3D on the other.

I've found difficulty displaying games and video before.
However on my setup this tends to fix it, run the game in windowed mode. In certain games you can use borderless window too which doesn't distract as much.
I use VNC for media.
