Am on Virgin media Broad Band with NTL home 256. Also bought Netgear DG834g v3...

NTL home 256 is connected to VMBB then cat 45 cable to my pc.

Can i connect NTL home 256 to DG834g v3. Then configure that router and connect it to my pc so I get wifi + 4 extra cat 45 slots if someone comes to my gaf with pc to hook up?

If so how to do that please? ta

Ive had limited time to google your hardware so im making assumptions here... I assume that the NTL256 is a modem, the Netgear is a router...
To do what you want to do, run a Cat5 or Cat5e from the modem to the wireless router input, then run another cat5 or cat 5e or cat6 cable from the output port of the router to the pc. login to the routers home page after you connect the pc to the router using the following info. http://routeripaddress/ (this can be found by going to start/run/ and type 'ipconfig /all' then copy the default gateway address = routeripaddress) the Default username is admin and password is password. Set up the network how you would like it somewhere there will be a wireless security page i advise that you use encryption.

Good luck!

Hmm in theory you could probably use it as an access point/switch but it will likely not be easy to setup, depends on the capabilities of the NTL home 256 i.e. can it run a DCHP server and so on.

The DG834 isn't really what you want for the job tho.
