Hi all, I moved house a couple months ago and it's got virgin media cables across the house in various places. Q is can i use the existing virgin media lines for TV (without virgin media sub?

Would this require a virgin media box? E.g. Would one i got off ebay work?

Are there any third party boxes/can it plug in direct to the tv?

Im only interested in the free view element (Bbc1/Ch4/HD channels) , not bothered about anything else really.

Potentially it will work, if they haven't disconnected it at the cabinet. You probably won't get HD or anywhere near as many channels as Freeview.

Any DVB-C box should work but it will be easier with a VM one. Note that technically all the boxes belong to VM so it's a bit naughty to buy/sell them, but you can often get them dirt cheap on ebay etc or even your local car boot sale.
