I wanted either a Radeon HD 7850 or 7870 I have a gtx 560 SE in ther now. Is there a big difference from the 7850 to 7870?

My mobo is asus p8z77-m i7 2700k

If you're using 2 Pci-e six pin cables now and the 7850 you're looking at has 2 6 pin pci-es then it will physically fit. Looking at that psu I'd doubt it have anymore than those two, or any 8 pins?

I wouldn't ever recommend putting a near £200~ gpu on what looks like a cheap psu though, regardless of the fact that it's less power hungry than what you're replacing.

What's the actual brand of the psu? (or is it unbranded?)

I don't see a name of the psu.

Would I be ok to fit and power a 7850?

I would like to get a better gpu then I have right now. the gtx 560 SE drops frames on FPS, but is ok for others.

So would 7850 work with my psu?

Your 12V rails supply enough power for a 7850/70. I am not a fan of cheap PSU's though and I don't know enough about the OCP/UCP to confirm if that is safe to use on a expensive rig.

If it was me, I would buy a decent make PSU such as OCZ/Corsair/XFX.... but that is me. Maybe others can confirm. Also if you stick with this PSU, I would be inclined to look for a 7850/70 with 2X6 pin connectors.

Sorry not much help :(

The AMPs looks pretty low on the 12v rail compared to other PSUs out there. Any idea what's the name of the PSU?

How would I know if the 7850 has 2X6 pin connectors? would it say it in the specs?

On the name don't know?

I'll try to have another look inside. brb

I see the Gigabyte WF X2 has 1X6 pin connector but I can't find pics of the WF X3. Maybe 7850 owners will help out here.

Thanks for looking. I'm talking to the place I bought the PC from and told him the psu was crap and he's trying to get me a better psu and a 7850 card...for the £170 I told him I have. The PC is less then a week old, so I could ask for a refund. I think that's why he's trying to help me. He's calling me back in 30 mins I'll see what he has to say.

ps: he told me the psu was a cit? never heard of them?

OK here's what he said.

He's gonna replace my psu with a OCZ 600watt psu and a xfx 7850 card for £170.

Is the xfx 7850 a good card? don't matter really it's better then my gtx560 SE. Getting a better psu and a gpu. did I do good?

Its a single 6pin PCI-E socket.

Yeah they are a big brand, make a lot of quality PSU's but also a lot of cheap ones.

Basically these days most people will shout about XFX/Corsair/OCZ/etc despite people laughing at them when they started making PSU's and saying they would never compete with the likes of Enermax/Hiper/etc (the established brands at the time). XFX/Corsair/OCZ/etc have carved out a niche by making quality PSU's that also look pretty and might have things like braided/modular cables, PWM fans, etc. CIT don't do that, they just make power supplies, they may not be the prettiest but they are the type you would find in something like a Dell/HP workstation powering Quadros/FireGL/etc.

Is the xfx 7850 2gb a good gpu? he told me that the only one he could do for cheap. it's got to be better then the gtx560 SE I have.
