Can I use someone else's Steam Backup?

I just bought Batman: AA on Steam but it's downloading at a snail's pace.

My little bro already has it on Steam. Can I get him to back up his copy so I can restore it into mine or do the backup files contain links to his account?

I'd rather we didn't get both of our accounts nuked.

You can just backup batman and it should world perfectly. you could even copy the files manually/

sure, the only problem you will have with this is that you will have all their control settings and stuff like that

Just copy and paste the files, no need to mess around with the backup tool.

If you have a big enough drive to transfer the files, just copy and paste. The backup system is good if you need it in CD or DVD-sized chunks. I've copied a handful of programs from Steam for my little bro who has a dodgy connection.

just copy the folder steam\steamapps\common\batman arkam asylum from his PC to yours - go back into steam and start the installation/download again and it should see the files are already there - tidy up the installation, download the odd (small) extra files and you should be good to go in 5 minutes.

One good thing, you won't get his save games - they are stored in a different folder.
