can i use this as a switch?

Just bought this off of ebay for 50p

BT home hub V1, (white one, the one if you were to google it that does not have a phone with it)

no idea why I bought it, just a quick bid and i won it.

But it has x2 USB inputs on it.

Was curious thats why I got it if I could use it as a switch and plug an external HD into it.

I thought I maybe able to either connect it via cable to my Netgear N150 router or would it pick it up wirelessly.

Or is it destined for the bin?

If you turn off DHCP, might work!

turn off dhcp on the hub and it will work as a switch. USB ports *should* work with a printer and/or hard drive, but reports say it's flaky

should be 192.168.1.254

Yeah should work fine, just change the IP as needed and turn off DHCP and any other firewall stuff etc.
