I have an old PC lying around in my room built by a very well known manufacturer. I was thinking of using the video card from it in this PC to give myself a dual monitor setup. The problem is, I think i read somewhere that this particular manufacturer does something to their hardware so it will not work in other PCs. Is this true?
Cheers,
Mitchel

P.S. Not sure if I am allowed to mention the name since it is ind of advertising the competition although you can buy their laptops from here

You can use the graphics card, the hard drives, optical drives, soundcards etc as they are standard parts, the only problems you might find are that the motherboard and possibly PSU + case are non-standard so won't work in an 'ordinary' PC. I am of course assuming that if it is an AGP graphics card you have an AGP slot on your motherboard or PCI-E and PCI-E. :)

havent checked that yet tbh but both these PCs are from around the same time so I imagine they are both AGP
Thanks for the help,
Mitchel
