can i use this memory

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-089-OC

with this motherboard

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-085-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=913

i found out that it can take 1066,800,677,533 memory speeds, but the memory i posted is 1150mhz. if the board will take it will i encounter any problems. and if the board wont take it what board will.

the reason i choose that memory is because the price is great i mean 1150mhz pc9200 for £111.61 awesome price

yes but it will only run at the bus speed of your CPU.

so if you buy a CPU which has a FSB of 266MHz (1066Mhz effective) then the memory will run at 533MHz (PC2-4200 speeds).. So unless you are going to seriously overclock your system, i'd go for some PC2-6400.

well the cpu of my choice was a q6600 energy eff, and the p35 ds3p, and that memory but what your saying is that it will drop slower than the pc6400

but saying that ill be overclocking to about 3ghz just because it can do that easily

Then you'll have no need for PC9200.

At 3ghz you will only need your memory to be running at 667mhz, which is only PC5300 speeds. You can get two pairs of the Geil PC6400 for only £82 and that would be much better than a single pair of PC9200, even if you're running a 32bit operating system (a 32bit OS can only use 3.2gb of the 4gb).

what speed will i have to overclock the cpu to effectivly use that memory

The PC9200 or PC6400?

You will need 5.18ghz to fully use the PC9200, and 3.6ghz to fully use the PC6400.

But you can lower the Q6600's multiplier to x8 and use 400x8 (3.2ghz) to fully use the PC6400.
