Can I use this (which I think came with my old P35C / Q6600 mother board in 2007 (Gigabyte also) on my new GA-Z77-UD3H motherboard - or will that be a "bad idea".

Looking at it, theres no chips or anything, its just a signal pass through but wanted to ask questions first save tears later.

Thanks

Rik

It just looks like an eSata PCI slot adapter.

It will be fine. I've had USB/firewire adapters, never used them but they all do the same thing.

You know, I thought that, 99.9% but with a new rig and data at stake I just wanted to get approval from someone else :)

Cheers mate

its just a through connector, it will be fine, you will need to be set as ahci in the BIOS for hotplugging
