can it be done?

hey all, just a quick question.

im going to try a 3 monitor eyefinity setup and was going to put in 2 5850's. just wonderd if my motherboard would take it or if i am waisting my money. ie putting a Ferrari engine into a fiesta.

the cpu is a phenom 2 x4 be going at 3.11ghz

Your motherboard only has one PCI-E slot so, only one GPU I`m afraid.

aye, thought that when i had a closer look at the website,

iv found another in my cupboard

but not sure if it was doa when i got it. the only way to find out is stick it in i suppose?

That will do Crossfire, but it does not mention what the speed of the slot goes down to when used crossfire mode.

But, like you mention you need to check if it works!

rather than peeing about with it, is there one u would recommend that would work and also still let me unlock the 2 cores on the cpu?

Have a look at the motherboard below which can do dual 8x crossfire and I believe can do the core unlocking.

I assume your using DDR3 memory and have a case which can take a full size motherboard.
