So I just booted my new 2600k for the first time. I've not finished the build so no OS installed. Using a thermalright venomous X I am getting 20-21 degrees at idle in the bios.

I am now very excited about the overclocking potential.

has anyone here managed 5ghz on air? I reckon I might be in with a chance on my Gigabyte UD7 B3, what do you reckon?

Good times ahead. :)

5GHz on air is a breeze. :D

Seriously not a problem on air at all. Is this for your 24/7 running or just a bit of fun over-clocking.

Probably a bit of fun really. Will go for 4.5Ghz for day to day. I've had a quick browse through the 5ghz club thread and it seems these CPU's can handle more vaults than was initially thought. I will be very careful though!!!

I'm coming from X58 and I'm yet to look into the differences in overclocking on P67. What's the best guide out there and what are the main differences? It's my first non ASUS board in years and the bios on this gigabyte is so bloated it's untrue, it'll take me 12 millennia to translate!

Mine was in the low 20s too in bios when i set it up a couple of days ago.

A little tip update the bios to the F3h one as if you have the F2 one it keeps failing to start even if you make unimportant changes in bios.

Just flashed to the new one as recommended by 1day and all good now :)

Got it stable at 4.7Ghz so far with 1.38v

Just had a look on the gigabyte website and the only bios listed is F2. Where did you find F3H?

i run a 2600k @ 4.4ghz on 1.29 v never goes above 40 on air and idles at 29-31 which is great when i compare to how hot the previous ones were at 4.4ghz !! if i turn the overclock off i got to 20 c ish
