I've got a vaio laptop here, which I'm 99.99% sure has bad memory (it's past the point where windows repair will save it) and needs reformatted. Unfortunately it seems memtest doesn't fully support it. It boots from dvd, but only lists the DIMMs and doesn't runs the tests.

So, once reformatted what are the options for testing memory from within windows, if any? :(

Prime95 asks you which type of test to run when you open it. One of them is to test a lot of ram rather than cpu. I think Orthos has a very similar feature.

You sure you have the latest version of memtest? I have not tried it on a laptop but I have tried it on many desktops and never come across an issue with the software itself.

Oh I don't think either of us believes the software is the problem :) I wasn't aware the prime listed ram errors though, does it?
