Awwww my gawwwd Im so mad with my GM at work - wanted to buy the new macbook and we have one in stock - but he says I cant, I have to buy it next week!

Spending £950 of my hard earned cash and he tells me to come back next week...cheek of it.

I will get 10% discount , but can he stop me from buying it?

Any help would be appreciated, as I was literally out the door to get the macbook, but now im pretty gutted :(

(P.S im not a mardy little scrotem - Im just extremely disapointed , was looking forward / saving for a macbook for ages lol)

Is it the last one?

Maybe hes waiting for stock coming in next week and by that keeping the last one for a full paying customer....

Yea it is mate - but Im going to be getting one next week if I dont get one now , so I dont understand it, all the stuff that I do to help the company out and they backstab me...

Im sure you dont need to know this but... NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THE LAND OF PURPLE SHIRTS!!!!

So what your boss is doing is thinking of losing a potential customer and maybe a lot more future trade, he is thinking like a GM and looking at the long run not just the next week.

Maybe you should take note in case you ever want to progress past whipping boy?

KaHn

I get where your coming from bud, really I do - but seriously, will it make that much difference?

But the real question is - can he actually refuse to sell it to me?

Just buy it from another store using your discount, he can refuse to sell anything to anyone, that's his right. Oh and aren't the purple shirts changing to a fetching shade of pink soon ? enjoy :D

lol, yea, were going to be wearing the sexual pink soon!

Thing is though, no other stores have got them in...Is there any kind of loophole (other than headbutting the GM) to get my macbook with staff discount?

Why are you so desperate to get it? It's a laptop for christs sake, it's not like the guy is depriving you of food.

And no, there's nothing you can do. A shop manager could refuse to sell anything if they wanted to, it's just an invitation to treat.

Mate its like having a new toy that youve been waiting and waiting for, you save up all the cash - they have one in your local store and BAM - manager wont sell you it...

Suck it up and deal with it mate.

Next time he is desperate for some overtime over Christmas or something, tell him to wait until next year and ask you then.

Can't understand why some managers have problems giving out the *few* perks that come with working in retail. Must be a bullied at school thing.

Saying that, I just used to buy stock if I wanted it when I worked on the electrical department in a supermarket. Sod asking, I ordered the stuff in, took delivery of it, sorted it, and shelved it. I think i'm entitled to buy the ****ing thing after all that.

That is exactly what Im going to do - Im always bending over backwards helping them out, no more...

And I know people are thinking "jesus - its only a laptop!" , but thats not the point anymore. To be quite fair I wont be able to go on it for quite a while, but its the damn cheek of him to get someone to tell me to buy it next week. Cant even do me the one favor - he can go **** a horse...a massive horse.

If your only after performance for things like video+audio work and 3d work. Things can be very cheap indeed, I setup an 8 core workstation for less than £700 by connecting 2 q6600 pc's together in parallel mode. Hard to believe people spend so much money on xeon workstations really.

Would that work? Didnt know ya could do that to be fair :)

That would be be, but the OP didn't listen. :(

Well I finally got my new macbook! :D

And it wasnt that I didnt listen - it was because I wanted it asap, and also, I went on finance with it , plus the convinience of if it ever does go wrong, I only have to pop into work to get it looked at and fixed or whatever.

Plus a lot of my uni friends have actually got macs and apparently the HE discount is for one mac / macbook per year, so I couldnt get it anyway. :)

Please tell me you didn't go with some horrible PC World or similar 29.9% APR horrible finance.

Macs are nice but not so nice as to get locked in a horrible finance deal.

lol, I sell the finance I took out everyday for customers.

Its the buy now pay 6 month later one I did, and your right - If I miss the 6 month deadline, I get locked into a 43 month contract with 29.9% APR!!

Going to pay it off after xmas anyway - so its not a biggie :)
