Can my mobo run a 955

I disagree with frozennova, your Motherboard will run the AMD 955, but the speed of your Motherboard’s Chip is not as fast as 955 so the 955 will run slower, but still noticeably faster than your 9850. Where I agree with frozennova it only makes sense to use the 955 it you plan to upgrade to an AM3 motherboard to take advantage of the extra speed your current MB cannot give, if not the get a 940 or a 945.

Thanks lads. Its my intention to get this chip.

I have another 5770 waiting to go with my current one it will just be 3 weeks before i can get a crossfire mobo. I can just stick this chip in there once i get it.

Im just thinking of gettin the 955 now because it will be a step up regardless right?

I can overclock it and itl run much better then my 9850 till the new mobo comes.

Phenom II X4 940 BE would be the best choice if you could find a new one for up to £120. Otherwise 945 is what you want.

Do you really need a quad core with this setup?

Ofcourse. Already got a quadcore just thought I would step up to something a bit more current.

Got 2 5770s so its a good mixup. Il be getting the mobo in 2 to 3 weeks max anyway so aslong as my current mobo can support it seems like it should i just wasnt sure. I could make use of it till the new one comes.
