Hi guys, im genuinely a PC idiot, and have looked to find out if my Monitor can work with a PS3, using the HD Fury converter.

Essentially, my Screen is an ACER AL 1916W, which has a VGA port - HDFury converts the PS3 HDMI input into VGA which is fine, but I have heard some monitors can't display the image - can anyone please shed some light, as my endless research is really, for me, needle in a haystack time.

Thanks in anticipation.

The hd fury looks like the best and cheapest option really what conponent box was it.

The component box seems to offer outputs to plug into my speakers, as my monitor doesn't have any onboard.

The HDFURY has a single HDMI input - how would I connect to speakers? does the HDMI cable also have the speaker outputs on them? From recollection, the 40GB PS3 only has one AV out socket?

Sorry to hi-jack. Whats all this that you dont have to have HDCP monitor to use on your ps3? I thourght you did? My llyama 22" wont work with a HDMI -HDI . What am I doing wrong? or wont it work?

Bikerz, It seems using a HDFURY or Component box means you don't have to have HDMI compliance.

"Unlike other solutions, this revolutionary product doesn't even require that your screen be HDCP (High Definition Content Protection) compliant - as the device add HDCP to the display - producing a perfect, legal picture. What this means for you is that you don't have to worry that future consoles or players won't work with your screen - as long as your screen has a VGA input, you're all set for the future".

The whole point of those converters is to bypass hdcp so video can be displayed on a non hdcp monitor. How could you not know that when you bought it?

You need hdcp for a digital connection, like it says in the manual.

Is there any solution for those of us with monitors that don't have VGA inputs, DVI only (e.g. Dell 3007WFP)?
