I just got a AMD FX6300 Black Edition 6 Core and when I tried to install it I got no HDMI reading on my monitor. However when I switched the CPU back to my last 4 core AMD processor it has worked. Will I be able to run my new processor on my asus m5a78l-mlx??

Please someone help, thank you :)

Hi and welcome to the forums. :)

If you go to Asus website and look up the motherboard the FX6300 is on the cpu support list but depending on what bios version the motherboard is running you may need to update it. Version 1401 or later is required for the board to support the FX6300. The latest version is 1603 and can be downlaoded here. To flash the bios you will need your old cpu in the board. Just download 1603 and put it on a usb stick, reboot the pc and go into the bios and flash with the inbuilt EZFlash tool.

One thing to note is that your board has no heatsinks on the vrm chips and the FX series hammer the vrm's so keep an eye out for throttling, especially if overclocking. If you get any throttling it will most likely be because the vrm's are overheating.

It is in the supported list for that motherboard! What graphics card are you using? Have you tried updating the BIOS?
