Hi - i looking at my next upgrade, which feels like it should be my monitor (currently running 1080p).

Will my current setup be up to the job at 1440 (I expect not to be able to max everything out)? I can probably upgrade my GPU further down the line (seems overkill to upgrade it now for 1080).

If it helps, I was looking at this one: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-060-DE&groupid=17&catid=1120

What are your thoughts . . .

Thanks in advance :)

Hi

Save some cash and go for the AOC Q2770PQU 27 the dell is not worth the extra cash... put that towards a 780/290 :p

This is a good review

You wont be able to max some games out with you current card but they will
still be more than playable :) you don't really need lots of AA in games @ 1440 imo so that will help you out some:)

There is also an official owners forum for the AOC it was £350 a while back
but it has gone up to £389.

Thanks for the info, looks interesting.

What's the difference between IPS and PLS though? I don't play much in teh way of FPS, if that makes any difference. Mainly Nvidia friendly games (AC4, Batman: AO, Bioshock Infinite, Grid 2 etc).

I just received a 34 um65 2560x1080 monitor 2day. I'm not sure I like it. I think I sit to close for that size. Movies are excellent. Gaming is nice width, but i dropped down from 120hz to 60hz. Not that I do hit over 60fps in many games I play :P

The problem I did notice was when I had windows open side by side, I noticed the perspective skew from glancing side to side. I felt like I had to move from side of the screen to the other.

I'm very tempted to send it back under DSR and get the AOC Q2770PQU. I think I might go 27" 1440p @ 60hz, or stay with the tried and tested 27" 1080p 120hz+

I'm guessing that the 27" 2560x1440 will look better @ 16:9 rather than 2560x1080 @ 21:9.

There basically very similar in performance ... IPS is LG tech and PLS is Samsung's version of IPS i doubt you could tell much difference between the two either of these will be good :p

Watch this some explanations of different panel tech.. he favours PLS too :)
