Can my yamaha amp do this

I've installed a built in unit housing the L/C/R speaker. The left and right speakers are behind doors in the unit and the centre is in the open middle section. I don't mind having the doors open at night when the little one goes to bed but not in the day when she's up.
Is it possible to set the amp to just use centre or centre and rears for daytime use, maybe with the scene settings?
 
The tv has no speakers and everything is setup using arc so TV and amp switch on together.

The left and right speakers are front ported so no problem being in the cabinet but I may wrap some acoustic damping material around them just to stop any cabinet resonance.
 
I was just looking at setting patterns before I read your post lucid and wondered if I remove the L/R speakers and run ypao whether it would set a pattern for just the speakers the mic hears?
 
My hope was if no L/R was detected it would mix these into the centre channel but as you say it just reads an error and stops. It's not problem I can either remove the doors or just open them when used.
 
Don't you lose L/R information then? I think I'm just going to have to compromise with either quality over aesthetics or aesthetics over quality
