Hi, been running my i5 [email protected] on an Asrock z68 extreme 4 gen3 with no issues since it was new a few years ago.

I have been having trouble booting where the power would just cycle a few times then boot up. Then would not boot, reset the bios and will now no longer overclock.
When i change a setting in the bios it just reverts back to original e.g will change multiplier to 42 then will just flick back to 37 max.

I have updated the bios and still the same, i read in another forum that later versions of the bios give ivy bridge support and could effect my cpu.

This cannot be right can it?
Any help would be appreciated

If it works with 1 stick what does this mean?
Bios profiles save but when I'm actually in the bios as soon as I move off the adjustment it reverts back. Ordered a battery anyway.

Searching forums and I can see that the locked multiplier at 37 is a common problem caused by the BIOS chip, which has become corrupted. Apparently need to get in touch with asrock for a new chip.
Worth a shot.

OK, problems solved inserted new bios chip and now everything is back to normal :)
In 15 years building my own pc's i have never had a corrupt bios or an asrock board for that matter. There seems to be a few asrock boards with the same problem.
