and this would apply for x box connect too right ?
cheers

NTL used to try and charge you something extra for xbox live but you should have no problems at all.
I use NTL and live and don't pay anything extra nor do I have connection issues.

oh well.
its because my other frind gave me a free trial for the friend in question... and i think hes just really scared of getting owned lol.

i dont know where hes got that 'ntl doesnt support it' from lol.
hes lost the last 3 crossover switches ive gave to him ( for system link) ... this doesnt have anything to do with it does it :S ?

thanks for the QUICK response !!!

btw, danny whats that helmet in your sig ?

NTL I believe used to charge for Xbox Live, not sure whther they still do though. The way around the charge was using a router. So yes XBL works fine on NTL.

They weren't charging for using Xbox Live, you were actually paying for another IP address and the ability to use a set-top box as a cable modem. Sharing the one address through a router has never been charged, plus they wouldn't know anyway. Xbox live works fine on my connection. I think the way NTL worded their stuff about Xbox live was meant to confuse people into thinking they had to pay extra to use it however it was set up.

Perhaps that was the case, but I do remember seeing a price for use of Xbox Live on the NTL site at some point about 2 years ago. A friend of mine wanted to go on XBL, s he called NTL to ask how he set it up through his STB, he was told there would be a monthly charge for the service, yeah probably for the IP as you say but still. Anyway, I advised to him to get a router and away he went.

hmm okay then... its confirmed... hes scared of getting owned lol.
thanks guys

Rick
p.s danny, tought it may ahve been a custom job or something... i dont follow F1 to know what it was :P
cheers

As above :D

They used to only let you have 1 device connected to your cable modem and wanted to charge extra for more MAC addresses. So you buy a router and connect what you want and keep your extra cash in your pocket and not NTL's.

I'm on 2mb and I've been on Xbox live for a couple of years - my 360 also works fine!

hold on dos this mean he needs a router... if so he aint got one.
they just have an ethernat cable lying around the floor which they plug into the lappy, straight fromt he modem i presume...
they cant take it through a PC.

As long as you don't need to use them both at the same time it should work fine just plugging that cable into the xbox.
