Can Original iPad use WEP wireless?

Hi Guys

Can an original iPad be configured to use WEP wireless encryption provided by an old (approx five years old) Netgear DG834GT router?

I believe it can but it is known to be quite buggy.

The DG834GT supports WPA though, so this would be the better option for both reliability and security

Thanks. Can anyone tell me whether an original iPad will work reliably with a Netgear DG834GT router set to WPA wireless encryption? Does anyone have this setup? I'm just asking on behalf of a relative.
