I have a normal home network with several Windows 7 64bit PC's (ethernet and wireless). The laptop is on the network wirelessly, with workstation 8 installed. On there I'm running a VM which also has win7 64bit installed. It's set to use a "bridged connection" with the laptop's network.
On the VM I'm able to ping host names of each PC on my network. I'm also able to ping the IP of the laptop hosting the VM. However, for some reason I am unable to ping the host NAME of the laptop. I'm not sure if this is relevant, but on the laptop I'm able to ping both the host name and IP of the VM; so it works that way around for some reason!?
Also on other computers on the network I can ping the laptop and VM by host name just fine.
What's also weird is that all this worked fine on my network at work.
p.s. every machine is set to use dynamic IP.
