Can PS3 play blu-rays through SCART?

I'll be living in a house with a CRT TV for a while but I'll have my PS3 with me - can it play blu-rays through its SCART cable?

Yes but it will look rubbish, you will also need to hold down the power button on the ps3 until it beeps 3 times for it to reset to default settings which will allow it work, at the minute your ps3 will still think its connected to an hdtv and it wont change automatically.

Component would be a better option though if you have the cables and available connections on your tv.

Not sure ive never tried it, the component cables will be a better quality option than scart so thats probably your best bet.

I'd imagine it'd look like normal DVDs although I could be very wrong.

Just tested it on an LCD via the scart port and they work fine.

It'll run it in PAL60 mode (or NTSC mode)

my mate used his crt for a year when he bought a ps3 ... i was taking teh pee out him constantly lol
