I'm considering buying 16GB 2400Mhz RAM I read somewhere that faster RAM can cause issues with CPU overclock

Currently 4.2Ghz 4670k is it possible new RAM could make my OC unstable

Great stuff

Now I just need to decide what RAM to buy ..... I don't always need 16GB but it will help with certain tasks (running instances of the same app for example) as I often get close to the RAM limit on 8GB

No, Haswell is extremely good with ram. I have 4x4Gb sticks that are overclocked and have tweaked timings and I have exactly the same max overclock (4.8Ghz) as I do with just a pair. I don't even need to bump any voltages to run four sticks instead of two.

Nah, most if not all RAM comes with lifetime warranties these days so if they put that sort of commitment behind it I think that says it all.

I'm not going to be buying from OcUK this time as returns from a different retailer are much easier so I think I'm going to go with HyperX Savage 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) 2400 RAM

Just to confirm my motherboard is a Z87-G43 - This should be able to run the ram perfectly ?

Reading this on my mobo specs -

Support four DDR3 1066/1333/1600/1866*/2000*/2133*/2200*/2400*/2600*/2666*/2800*/3000* (*OC) MHz . up to 64GB Max - Supports Dual-Channel mode - Supports non-ECC, un-buffered memory - Supports Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (XMP)

Should the ram run at 2400Mhz without any config

Just turn XMP on
